Choosing between the GeForce RTX 5070 and the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is the midrange Blackwell question most buyers actually face. Both sit on NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 family page. I do not own either card. I play on a desktop RTX 5080 with a Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, on a 1080p 240 Hz and a 1440p 155 Hz monitor — so this page is researched, not hands-on. For the card on my desk, see the RTX 5080 gaming PC build; for the desktop flagship sheet, see the RTX 5090 page.
Specs side by side
Numbers below come from NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 family specs table (checked 5 Nov 2026). No FPS charts, no invented “X% faster.” Memory bandwidth is omitted because the family table does not publish it the same way for both cards.

Who should buy the RTX 5070
The non-Ti sheet is the cheaper, cooler-running midrange:
- Official launch from $549, with 250 W TGP and a 650 W system recommendation — easier on a mid-tower PSU than the Ti.
- 12 GB GDDR7 on a 192-bit bus. Enough for many 1080p and 1440p builds; watch listings if you expect heavy textures or long creative timelines.
- Slightly higher boost clock on paper (2.51 / 2.33 GHz vs the Ti’s 2.45 / 2.3 GHz), with fewer CUDA cores.
- 1× 9th-gen NVENC — fine for single-stream recording; streamers stacking encodes may prefer the Ti’s dual NVENC.
NVIDIA’s news post marked the desktop RTX 5070 out now on March 5, 2025. Both cards share the same display ceiling on the family page: 3× DisplayPort + 1× HDMI, max digital 4K 480 Hz or 8K 165 Hz with DSC (what the ports can send, not a frame-rate promise). Founders Edition size is listed for the 5070 at 242 mm long, 112 mm wide, 2-slot; partner Ti boards vary by maker.
Who should buy the RTX 5070 Ti
Pay the Ti premium when the sheet gaps matter to you:
- 16 GB GDDR7 on a 256-bit bus — the clearest on-paper upgrade over the 12 GB / 192-bit 5070.
- 8960 CUDA cores vs 6144, with Tensor at 1406 AI TOPS and RT at 133 TFLOPS (vs 988 / 94 on the 5070).
- 300 W TGP and 750 W required system power; plan the PSU and case airflow accordingly.
- 2× 9th-gen NVENC if you encode more than one stream at once.
- Official launch from $749. NVIDIA’s 5070 Ti out now post covers availability; street prices still move.
Both cards sit under the same Blackwell feature umbrella as the rest of the 50-series: DLSS 4, frame generation, and Reflex. For what those switches do, see what is DLSS and what is frame generation.
Power, connectors, and case fit
From the family table (checked 5 Nov 2026):
- TGP: 250 W (5070) · 300 W (5070 Ti)
- Required system power: 650 W · 750 W
- Power connectors (both): 2× PCIe 8-pin via adapter, or a 300 W+ PCIe Gen 5 cable
- Max GPU temperature: 85°C (5070) · 88°C (5070 Ti)
- Displays (both): 3× DP + 1× HDMI; max digital 4K 480 Hz or 8K 165 Hz with DSC
- FE size: NVIDIA lists the 5070 FE at 242 × 112 mm, 2-slot; Ti dimensions vary by partner board
Run your parts through the PSU wattage calculator before you trust a sticker. If you are still picking a tower, the custom gaming PC guide and the graphics cards hub keep the rest of the stack in one place.
Bottom line
On NVIDIA’s sheet the RTX 5070 Ti is the wider, higher-core, 16 GB card at 300 W from $749; the RTX 5070 is the leaner 12 GB / 250 W card from $549. I do not invent frame rates — buy the sheet that matches your screen, encode needs, and today’s street price. Specs-only compare: 5070 vs 5070 Ti. Common questions
What is the main difference between the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti?
On NVIDIA's family table the Ti has more CUDA cores (8960 vs 6144), 16 GB GDDR7 on a 256-bit bus instead of 12 GB on 192-bit, higher Tensor and RT figures, 300 W TGP vs 250 W, and a $749 launch MSRP vs $549. Both are desktop Blackwell cards.
How much VRAM does each card have?
The GeForce RTX 5070 has 12 GB of GDDR7. The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti has 16 GB of GDDR7. Memory bandwidth is not listed the same way on the family page for both cards, so this page leaves bandwidth out.
What power supply do the 5070 and 5070 Ti need?
NVIDIA lists 650 W required system power for the RTX 5070 and 750 W for the RTX 5070 Ti. Both accept 2× PCIe 8-pin via the adapter or a 300 W+ PCIe Gen 5 cable. Run your own parts through a PSU calculator before you buy.
Which card is better for 1440p gaming?
I do not invent FPS charts. On paper the Ti brings more cores, more VRAM, and a wider bus; the non-Ti is cheaper and draws less board power. Match the sheet to your screen, case, and budget — and check current street prices.
Do you own an RTX 5070 or 5070 Ti?
No. I play on a desktop RTX 5080 with a Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, on a 1080p 240 Hz and a 1440p 155 Hz monitor. Every number on this page is from NVIDIA's product pages, researched, not hands-on.
When did the RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti launch?
NVIDIA's news posts put the desktop RTX 5070 Ti out first, then the RTX 5070 on March 5, 2025. Official launch MSRPs start from $749 (Ti) and $549 (5070).
Does the 5070 Ti have more encoders than the 5070?
Yes on NVIDIA's family table: the Ti lists 2× 9th-gen NVENC; the 5070 lists 1× 9th-gen NVENC. Both list 1× 6th-gen NVDEC.
