Overwatch ult charge calculator
How close is your ult? Enter your damage and healing to see your charge percent. Charge % = effective combat ÷ ult cost × 100. Effective combat = (damage + healing) × (1 − tank share × tank cut). The tank cut defaults to 40% from the February 2026 role passive. Ult costs themselves are blank — Blizzard patches them as percents (Sombra and Doctrine moved again on 6 October 2026).
Default 40 is the February 2026 tank role passive. Overwrite it if a later patch moved it.

Effective combat 0 after the tank cut.
The charge fraction
combat = damage_on_heroes + healing
effective = combat × (1 − tank_share × tank_cut)
charge % = effective / ult_cost × 100
On Zarya I track this for Graviton Surge.; the ultimate economy page is when to press it. A breakpoint on the target in front of you is the damage breakpoint tool.
Common questions
How is ultimate charge earned in Overwatch?
You build ult charge by dealing damage to enemy heroes and healing teammates. Each hero's ultimate has its own cost, which you can see in the hero panel in game.
Do you get less ult charge from damaging tanks?
Yes. The tank role passive means damage and healing on tanks gives 40% less ultimate charge.
Does shooting barriers build ult charge?
No. Damage to barriers, turrets, and other non-hero targets doesn't charge your ultimate.
Do you keep ult charge when you switch heroes?
Some of it. You keep 15% of your ult charge when you swap to a different hero.
