WoW Midnight class tuning: October 27 nerfs and buffs

The next round of WoW class tuning lands with the weekly maintenance on 27 October (US region date), and Subtlety Rogue is the big loser.

PvE. Subtlety Rogue: all ability damage reduced by 8%, and Trickster’s Fazed now increases damage by 5% (was 7%). Blizzard says the 12.1.5 compensation buff overshot. Feral Druid and Fire Mage: all damage increased by 5% (not in PvP). Marksmanship Hunter: Trick Shots ricochet damage on Aimed Shot and Rapid Fire up to 85% (was 75%), and Explosive Shot and Volley damage up 10%. Warlock: Affliction’s Unstable Affliction up 20% (not in PvP) and Destruction’s Rain of Fire up 20%. Restoration Druid gets dungeon healing help: Verdancy +60%, Regrowth +10%, Improved Swiftmend 40% (was 30%), none of it in PvP.

PvP. Unholy Death Knight: San’layn Vampiric Strike damage reduced by 20%. Preservation Evoker: Chronowarden’s Chronal Dynamo now boosts non-instant Living Flame by 80% (was 50%) and Reverberations adds 80% (was 40%) Verdant Embrace healing. Marksmanship Hunter: Kill Shot +40%, Deathblow’s chance from Aimed Shot up to 25%, Dark Ranger Black Arrow +40%. Frost Mage: Frostfire’s Isothermic Core Meteor and Duality Pyroblast +20%, while Fire Mage loses 5% of all damage in PvP. Healers: Mistweaver Conduit of the Celestials (Celestial Conduit +35%, Strength of the Black Ox absorb +25%), Holy Paladin (all healing +5%, Divine Favor cuts Holy Light cost by 50%, was 30%), Holy Priest (Prayer of Healing +30% plus Archon proc buffs) and Restoration Shaman (Healing Stream and Stormstream Totem +20%). Devourer Demon Hunter’s Collapsing Star and Assassination Deathstalker’s Mark and Hunt Them Down are up 20%.

This matters if you main Subtlety in keys or raid: an 8% cut on every ability is a real drop, so expect it to fall from the top of the meters. In arena, the San’layn nerf takes some pressure off, and Chronowarden Preservation gets a lot more value out of hard-cast Living Flame. The 23 October hotfixes also fixed items upgraded with Ascendant Venomstones showing incorrect item levels, and stopped some Warlock summons and Diabolic Occuli from targeting enemies outside of combat. The PvP uncaps from earlier in the week are in the October 20 hotfixes post.
