NVIDIA GeForce Hotfix Driver 621.12: RTX 50 video playback fix
Source: NVIDIA — GeForce/RTX Spark Hotfix Display Driver version 621.12
NVIDIA posted GeForce/RTX Spark Hotfix Display Driver 621.12, updated 27 October 2026. It’s based on the latest Game Ready Driver, the 621.01 release, with a few targeted fixes on top.
Fixed.
- Video playback may freeze or go to a black screen on some GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs and RTX Spark after updating to 621.01 [6979343]
- Unreal Engine 5.8 may crash when Ray Lighting Mode is set to Hit Lighting [6914378]
- [RTX Spark] an HDMI monitor connected through a StarTech Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI 2.0 adapter may show corruption [6054761]
- [MSI N16 Flip] intermittent flickering [6945359]
Downloads. There are two packages: a GeForce driver for Windows 10/11 (x64) and a separate RTX Spark driver for Windows 11 (ARM64).
NVIDIA says hotfix drivers are beta, optional and provided as-is, with a much shorter QA process. Its own advice is that the safest option is to wait for the next WHQL driver, and these fixes will be in the next official release.
Why it matters
If you’re on an RTX 50 card and video started freezing or going black after 621.01, this is the fix, and you don’t have to roll back to an older driver to get rid of it. If none of these four issues hit you, there’s no reason to install a beta driver. Stay on 621.01 and take the next WHQL release. Either way, how to update a GPU driver covers the install.
