Announcement
NVIDIA DLSS 5 faster model and Frame Generation Performance Mode beta

NVIDIA announced this on its GeForce news site on 13 October 2026.
NVIDIA says the DLSS 5 3D-Guided Neural Rendering model is 2X faster this week. The October update shrinks the footprint by 24% to about 118 million parameters and cuts 4K VRAM use by 20%. They call that half the GPU overhead of the September version, with comparable visual fidelity.
NBA 2K27 gets that model on 16 October 2026 on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, RTX Spark laptops, and GeForce NOW. NVIDIA lists frame rates up to 1.4X. Hogwarts Legacy adds DLSS 5 on 5 November 2026 for RTX 50, GeForce NOW, and RTX Spark. Where Winds Meet is listed for late November.
The same post ships a DLSS Frame Generation Performance Mode beta in the NVIDIA app. It is for GeForce RTX 40 Series, GeForce RTX 50 Series, and RTX Spark. In the app it is Preset C under the Frame Generation override. NVIDIA says it replaces the second AI model with a faster, lighter algorithm, with minor image-quality trade-offs. On a GeForce RTX 5060 they list it as up to 35% faster.
If you play on an RTX card, the faster model is less GPU time and less VRAM for the same lighting pass. Frame Generation is still generated frames. What DLSS is and what frame generation is are the two switches. For a ranked queue I start with Super Resolution, not extra generated frames. How to increase FPS and how to cap FPS are the setting order. VRR and G-Sync is the monitor side.
