Left-handed setup and settings for MMOs
How to put the mouse, keys, and interface on the left hand without fighting a right-handed default UI.

Most MMO layouts assume the mouse is in the right hand and the keyboard is on the left. If you play left-handed, flip the desk before you memorize someone else’s keys.
Put the mouse in the aiming hand
The mouse belongs in the hand that aims, which for you is the left. Slide the keyboard to the right. The aiming hand should not reach across the keyboard to find the pad.
Give that hand a clear rectangle of pad, the same idea as any long session. Reaching over a number pad to aim is how a left-handed setup feels worse than it is.
Rebind the mouse buttons
Right-handed side buttons sit under the thumb. On the left hand, those buttons are under the ring finger or the wrong side of the thumb, depending on the shell. Open the mouse software and the game, and put the buttons you actually press on fingers that can reach them.
Turn off any “enhance pointer precision” or acceleration in Windows if the game does not want it. Left or right hand does not change that. Inconsistent pointer speed does.
Build the key row for the free hand
The free hand types the abilities. Put the main rotation on the keys that hand already rests on. Do not keep WASD if that cluster is now a stretch. A small cluster you can hit without looking beats a famous layout from a right-handed video.
Movement can stay on the mouse if the game allows click-to-move or mouse steering. Many left-handed MMO players do that so the keyboard hand is only abilities. Try it for one session before you decide it is wrong.
Move the interface
Action bars can sit closer to the center, where both eyes see them, instead of glued to the left edge out of habit. Nameplates and the party frames should be near the middle of the fight, not in a corner your mouse has to cross the screen to reach.
If an addon puts buttons on the left because that is the default, move them. The default is not neutral. It is right-handed.
Write the layout down
Once a session feels possible, write the mouse, the six main keys, and where the bars sit. The next time a patch resets the interface, you restore that note instead of starting from a right-handed preset again.
Common questions
Do I need a left-handed mouse?
Not always. An ambidextrous mouse works if you can rebind the side buttons. A left-handed shape helps when the hump of a right-handed mouse fights your grip.
Which hand should click?
The hand that aims. Put the mouse in that hand, and move the keyboard to the other side.
